First follicle scan

 

 ‘It may be that the right ovary isn’t reacting at all to the injections’

 

Typical bank holiday Monday… Wet, rainy & gloomy.

8.45 & we finally made it to the hospital after rushing around as the alarm didn’t go off! We took a seat in the waiting area until we was ready to go in. I can’t wait to see what’s happened over the past week. Just hoping that all these injections have made a difference already. 

We walked in and was greeted by our other fertility nurse who we have only met the once but spoke to on the phone a few times. I emptied my bladder and sat up on the bed. I knew what I was looking for now after the last scan I had! I seen what they were looking for lots of black circles ‘follicles!’ Lots and lots of them yayy!  Moving the probe around wasn’t a nice feeling, it was so swollen and painful in there every time it moved it made me tense up. ‘I can’t find your other ovary Laura, you do have a second one don’t you?’ Is this guy for real haha! I thought he was joking but he was deadly serious (someone didn’t read the notes before he started lol) moving it around again was to painful. The nurse had to them push down on my side to see if that would make it better to view. It didn’t. I was worried now, I seen both ovaries last time so I  know they are both there but they aren’t the same size. ‘Okay Laura, we can’t find the right ovary it should be right here..’ There was nothing there,not even a shadow. ‘It may just be that it’s smaller than the other side, by Wednesday we would be able to se more. Pop up and get ready then we will take some bloods’  

Once the bloods were done I spoke to the nurse. She explained that my left ovary has lots and lots of follicles measuring 14mm. ‘You have the same amount of follicles on your left ovary that most women have on both‘ wow it’s a lot then! She also said that my right ovary may not be reacting to the injections but not to worry as I have plenty on my left. My lining is still a bit thin and has some growing to do. They expect to see change at my next scan so fingers crossed my little right ovary has grown some follicles! ☺️

It’s late, I haven’t re read this but hopefully it makes sense and there isn’t to many typos as writing on the iPhone doesn’t help with its auto correct lol
